The most stable battery chemistry for underground mining

Sandvik utilizes the well-known and proven Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry (LFP).

LFP batteries are known for their high safety margins and tolerance for thermal runaway.

Multiple layers of engineering controls have been implemented to further reduce the likelihood and severity of incidents.

Sandvik BEV drills equipped with LFP battery pack are equipped with an onboard fire suppression system suitable for electric fires.

Designed for Mining

Ideal for underground mining, the battery’s robust stainless steel cell module casings and housing enable it to better withstand shocks and vibrations.

Every cell’s temperature and voltage are monitored to ensure operational safety and performance.

It was really nice to see the new technology working as expected and the improved battery capacity provided sufficient tramming range to move around the mine.
