Compagnia Generali Trattori (CGT) S.p.A., a Caterpillar dealer since 1934, has representation throughout Italy. Its 28 branches provide integrated sales, rental and servicing solutions to all facets of the construction industry. Part of the Tesa Group, CGT employs approximately 1600 people with a controlling interest in several other companies. It is also the Caterpillar dealer in the Balkans and Malta, focusing on the construction, energy and logistic markets.

CGT became part of the Sandvik family in January 2016. Since then it has enjoyed an extremely successful start as a distributor for mobile crushers, screeners and surface drill rigs. This is due to the companies professionalism, market knowledge, extensive network, and of course it's highly motivated and experienced work force.

In order to mark and celebrate its distributorship, CGT held its first customer event dedicated to Sandvik equipment. Glorious Italian sun shined down at the limestone quarry in Brescia on the 18th June, where the specially invited guests were able to see live demonstrations of mobile crushers, screens and surface drill rigs, together with a selection of Caterpillar equipment. Other equipment was also displayed for close inspection.

Specially invited guests were able to see live demonstrations

Andrea Elli, Marketing Manager for CGT said of the customer day, "240 companies, totaling approximately 600 people, walked through the gates of the event on Saturday and the level of interest was what struck us most of all." He continued, "Companies from all over Italy visited the event including many of the major players in the Italian construction industry. All of which were extremely impressed with the recent innovations which we believe have opened opportunities that we will look to finalize from now to the end of the year."

The detail in which the event was organized impressed the visitors who appreciated the little touches implemented to enhance the customer experience throughout the day. This meant that the guests were able see at first hand Sandvik's QE241 & QE341 mobile scalpers, QJ241 & QJ341 tracked jaw crushers, as well as the Commando DC125 & Ranger DX800 surface drill rigs. In order to deal with any queries, and to explain how the equipment may directly benefit customer operations, CGT personnel were available throughout the event to provide assistance.

Eugene Lyons, Global Sales and Marketing Director for Sandvik Mobile Crusher and Screeners, was highly impressed by CGT's first Sandvik customer event, "It was great to see the appetite for the equipment and the great turn out." He continued, "As we are aware, the Italian Market has been quite stagnant in previous years, however now we are seeing added enthusiasm, new projects and great confidence, our partnership has great potential for the future, in the short, medium and long term."

The customer event showcased how Sandvik equipment and local expertise are able to provide customer focused solutions for the quarrying, aggregates and construction industries in Italy. The knowledge, interpersonal skills and enthusiasm of the CGT staff are to be applauded, with many sales of Sandvik equipment resulting from the customer event soon to be completed.
