Buenaventura selects Sandvik to provide 36-unit fleet in Peru

Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions will deliver a 36-unit fleet of underground equipment to Peruvian miner Compañia de Minas Buenaventura for use at three of its operations.

Sandvik will supply 19 underground drills, more than half of which will introduce i-series intelligence to development and longhole drilling at the operations. The order includes six Sandvik DS312 rock bolters, five Sandvik DD322i development jumbos, four Sandvik DU422i production drills, two Sandvik DL210 longhole drills, one Sandvik DD210 development drill and one Sandvik DD312i, the recently launched intelligent development jumbo.

The order also includes 17 loaders: six Toro® LH514 and six Toro® LH307 units, and five intelligent Toro® LH517i loaders.

Equipment deliveries will begin during Q3 2025 and continue through Q1 2026. Sandvik will also supply spare parts, components and maintenance service during the lifetime of the equipment.

“We are honored, proud and happy for this award and we will deploy our resources, dedication and talent to become Buenaventura’s number one partner in productivity and safety,” said Ricardo Pachon, Vice President Sales Area Andean & South Cone, Sandvik Mining and Rock Solutions.

The equipment will be used at three of Buenaventura’s eight Peruvian operations: the El Brocal silver-gold-zinc-lead-copper mine, the Uchucchacua silver-lead-zinc mine and the Yumpag silver mine, which commenced operations in 2024 after early permit approval. Combined 2024 production for the three operations is 12.6 million silver ounces, 56,525 metric tons of copper, 23,190 metric tons of zinc, 13,751 metric tons of lead and 23,646 gold ounces.

“This investment represents a strong mutual trust that strengthens our partnership with Sandvik, and a commitment to integrate high productivity equipment in Buenaventura´s underground mines,” said Fernando Ortiz de Zevallos, Logistics Manager at Buenaventura.
